Pre-Deployment Training for Egyptian Troops Joining MINUSCA

Suez, Egypt – CCCPA conducted a pre-deployment training for 450 Egyptian peacekeepers. They will be joining the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission (MINUSCA) to help restore peace in the Central African Republic.
 
The curriculum is based on UN Peacekeeping Pre-deployment Training Standards and covers topics such as UN peacekeeping operation principles; protection of civilians, the nature of conflict in the respective country; international humanitarian law and human rights; the role of gender and women in peacekeeping, and rules of engagement. 
 
The training, which took place from 12-15 December in Suez City, Egypt, was held in close collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Defense, in accordance with General Assembly resolution A/RES/49/37. The training comes as part of the current CCCPA project “Consolidating Peace, Security and Stability in Africa”, financed by the Government of Japan, in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
