The Cairo Center Assumes the Secretariat of the Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development
30 May 2019

Cairo, Egypt - Under the auspices of President Abdelfattah el-Sisi and the supervision of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, CCCPA has assumed the Secretariat of the Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development.

Grounded in “Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want”, the Inaugural Meeting of the Aswan Forum, will be held on 11-12 December 2019, under the title: “An Agenda for Sustainable Peace, Security and Development in Africa”.

Being the first platform of its kind to address the interlinkages between “sustaining peace” and “sustainable development” agendas, the Forum will bring together heads of states and governments, leaders of national governments, regional and international organizations, financial institutions, the private sector, and civil society, as well as visionaries, scholars, and prominent experts.

Launched during Egypt’s Chairmanship of the African Union, the Forum will provide a high-level multi-stakeholder platform for regional and international actors to take stock of current opportunities and challenges to peace, security and development in Africa; and develop context-specific and action-oriented recommendations to advance the implementation of “sustainable development” and “sustaining peace” agendas in Africa.
